who are you wearing?

During awards season, we are inundated with shots of celebrities as they walk down the red carpet .Who are you wearing is the phrase most commonly heard as the reporters clamor for air time with the most celebrated of celebrity. Without doubt you hear names like Armani, Badgley Mishka, Gucci, Dior and the like.

European and American designers have dominated the scene. Things are starting to change however, largely due in part to African American celebrities who choose to wear clothing from designers of color, remember Halle Berry in that Oscar dress by Middle eastern designer Elie Saab. Ethiopian designer Amsale has also branched out from just bridal into couture.
