the spirit of boldness

There are times when we are called upon to be bold. As children of God we often feel we are meant to be humble and walk as underdogs, waiting for our reward in heaven. However we are called to be bold when appropriate, bolstered by our faith in God. What does it mean to be bold? The dictionary describes boldness three ways. The first is as the quality of standing out strongly and distinctly.   Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego stood out because they refused to worship Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. They stood out distinctly because they stood up for what they believed, regardless of consequence.

The second description is as impudent aggressiveness, that would describe David, a mere child facing the giant Goliath. Not skilled as a warrior but bold nonetheless.

The third description is as the trait of being willing to undertake things that involve risk or danger. We should not be afraid to do something we are called to do just because it is risky or otherwise. Infact we should recognize that we are called to be bold as warriors if necessary and when God is looking for someone to send on a mission, we should be first in line, saying here I am, send me!
